What the Ancient Crisis Fragment Unlocks—and How to Get It in PoE 2
The Ancient Crisis Fragment in Path of Exile 2 is one of three crucial Pinnacle Keys used to unlock the final endgame encounter known as The Burning Monolith, where you face the pinnacle boss called the Arbiter of Ash. These Crisis Fragments (Ancient, Faded, and Weathered) are mandatory to open the gates that lead to this ultimate boss fight.
What the Ancient Crisis Fragment Unlocks
-
The fragment is used along with the other two Crisis Fragments to open the Burning Monolith door.
-
Unlocking the Burning Monolith grants access to the Arbiter of Ash fight, a challenging pinnacle encounter offering high-level endgame rewards.
How to Get the Ancient Crisis Fragment
-
The Ancient Crisis Fragment drops from the boss found in the Iron Citadel, one of three special Citadels that randomly spawn in the Atlas endgame.
-
To access the Iron Citadel, you must have Tier 15+ Waystones to enter the Citadels.
-
Each Citadel—Iron, Copper, and Stone—has a unique boss fight against an Uber Act Boss.
-
You earn the fragment by defeating the Iron Citadel boss.
-
Citadels appear randomly on the Atlas map, so exploration and map progression are required.
-
Using Waystones with high drop chances and modifiers like those from Lost Towers or Precursor Tablets can increase your chances of spawning Citadels.
-
Be well-prepared for the boss fights, as dying in a Citadel wastes the map and the Waystone, requiring you to find another with high drop chance again.
Additional Notes
-
Each Citadel boss guarantees one Crisis Fragment drop, but it’s possible, though rare, to get multiple fragments from the same boss.
-
Having all three fragments (including Ancient Crisis Fragment) allows you to enter The Burning Monolith and face the Arbiter of Ash.
-
Crisis Fragments can also be traded or sold for valuable endgame currency if you prefer not to fight the Arbiter immediately.
The Ancient Crisis Fragment is an essential quest-like currency dropped by the Iron Citadel boss, needed to unlock the pinnacle boss fight at The Burning Monolith in Path of Exile 2’s endgame. Obtaining it requires mapping at late game, finding and defeating this tough Citadel boss, and coordinating the three fragments to gain access to this final challenge.
